Introducing Click & Collect Websites: online ordering for food shops, done for you

Click & Collect Websites, new from BoxCart: online ordering for independent food shops, built, hosted and looked after for you, shown on two phones with demo butcher and farm shop baskets

If you run a butcher’s, a bakery, a farm shop or a greengrocer’s, you probably take orders ahead already. They arrive by phone in the middle of the Saturday rush, in Facebook messages at eleven at night, and on paper forms by the till. Plenty of shops have tried moving those orders online and found the catch: a fee on every order, or a lost weekend making software built for posting parcels understand collection days.

So today we’re launching Click & Collect Websites. We build your online ordering, host it and look after it, for one flat monthly fee. There’s no commission and no charge per order, and the website, the domain and the customer list are yours.

We’re Norwich Website Design, a web company based in Norwich, Norfolk, and we make BoxCart, the ordering system the service runs on. We work with food shops anywhere in the UK.

What you get

Your own ordering shop, with your products, your collection points and times, and your logo and colours. Customers browse on their phone or computer, choose where and when they’ll collect, and order. You get an email the moment an order comes in, and every order sits in one list, sorted by collection day and time, ready to print and pack.

We set it up the way your shop already works:

  • Collection days and time slots, with a limit on how many orders each slot takes, and an order deadline such as 1pm the day before.
  • One collection point or several: the shop, the farm gate, a village car park.
  • Products sold by the item, the kilo, the pound, the bunch or the pack.
  • Prices on show, or hidden so customers reserve online and pay when they collect.
  • Pay on collection, bank transfer, or card through Stripe.
  • Extra collection days for Christmas week, each with its own times.

Who it’s for

Independent food shops that take orders for collection: butchers, bakeries, farm shops, greengrocers, delis, cheese shops and fishmongers. It works whether you already have a website on Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or WordPress, or don’t have one at all.

It’s a particularly good fit when your orders don’t suit a normal online shop. Meat sold by weight. Bread baked to order, with a deadline so you know how much to make. Fruit and veg whose prices change with the market. Several collection points, each open on different days. If most of your orders go out by post, a general online shop will serve you better. This is built for collection.

What it costs

There are two packages, and the prices are on our website before you ever talk to us.

  • Ordering Shop: £750 + VAT one-off setup, then £45 + VAT a month. You keep your current website (or carry on without one), and we add an ordering shop alongside it at an address like shop.yourname.co.uk.
  • Shop + Website: £2,500 + VAT one-off setup, then £45 + VAT a month. A bespoke five-page website for your business with ordering built in, on your main domain, with a blog for news and seasonal offers and a contact form.

The two Click & Collect Websites packages: Ordering Shop at £750 + VAT setup and Shop + Website at £2,500 + VAT setup, each then £45 + VAT a month, and what the monthly fee covers

The £45 a month covers hosting, the security certificate, daily backups, all software and BoxCart Pro updates, security monitoring, and support for your ordering system. There’s a 12-month minimum term on the monthly fee, then it’s month to month with 30 days’ notice. If you take card payments, the card fees are charged by Stripe, not us.

Why one flat fee

No fee per order. Most ordering platforms charge a monthly fee plus a fee for every order over an allowance, so the bill climbs in your best weeks. Ours stays at £45 + VAT a month whether you take 50 orders or 5,000. To be fair to the per-order platforms: if you take fewer than about 140 orders a month, one of them can work out cheaper over three years. The comparison on our service page shows the sums at different order levels.

Your own site, and your own customers. The shop sits on your domain and the customer list belongs to you. We look after it for you under a data processing agreement, you can export it whenever you like, and if you ever leave, you take your website, domain and customer data with you. That’s written into the contract.

Done for you. We load all of your products, whether there are 10 or 300, from a spreadsheet or your existing shop. We set up your collection points and time slots, brand the shop and its emails, place test orders, and spend an hour training you. And when you need something fixed or added, you’re talking to the people who wrote the software, not a support queue.

How it works

  1. Sign up. Choose your package and pay the setup fee by card. It takes about five minutes, and your monthly fee starts four weeks later.
  2. Tell us about your shop. Our setup form asks for your products, collection times and branding. You can save it and come back to it as often as you need.
  3. We build it. We set everything up and place test orders, then walk you through it. This takes about two weeks.
  4. Start taking orders. You get an hour of training, a quick-start guide, and a check-in after your first month.

If your ordering shop sits alongside an existing website, your current site stays exactly as it is. We add a link to it, and there’s one setting to change with your domain provider, for which we send exact instructions.

The first shop on it: C.C. Wells

C.C. Wells of Norfolk is a family fruit and veg business that has been trading for more than 50 years, with collections from its Dereham warehouse and from car parks in Watton, Bungay and Sheringham. Customers order by 1pm the day before and pay by card or cash when they collect, because prices move with the market.

In October 2026 we rebuilt their website and moved their online ordering off WooCommerce and onto BoxCart. A script carried all 304 products across with their photos and units, so nobody retyped a thing, and the orders customers had already placed on the old shop came across too. All their orders, around 200 a month, now come in through it.

It’s early, but in the first five and a half days 21 orders came in online, and a third of them were placed in the evening or before 8am, when nobody would have been there to answer the phone. You can try their shop for yourself. We’ll share the full story, including what we changed and why, in a case study soon.

Places before Christmas

Christmas is when ordering ahead matters most, so we’re taking on five shops before Christmas. Sign up by 17th November and you’ll be taking orders by 1st December. Places are first come, first served, and the service page shows how many are left.

Everything else, from the full terms to the sign-up itself, is on the Click & Collect Websites page. If you’d like to ask something first, email hello@norwichwebsite.design. And if you’d rather set it up yourself on WordPress, BoxCart is free on WordPress.org, and BoxCart Pro adds card payments, several collection points and Christmas opening times.
